Copy & Paste MEI Modality Choice Comments on the 2026 QIP
by August 29!
Last month, we wrote that CMS is seeking comments by August 29 on
topics including measures to assess overall health, happiness, and life
satisfaction, emotional well-being, social connections, purpose, and
fulfillment, as well as tools and measures that promote healthy eating
habits, exercise, nutrition, or physical activity. MEI has written two
comments:
A clinical outcomes measure for percent of eligible
patients who initiate a treatment they ranked highly on an
evidence-based decision aidthat includes ALL options, such as
MEI’s FREE My
Kidney Life Plan.
A clinical outcomes measure for
Assessing & Improving Patient Well-being.
The KDQOL-36 survey is used with adult dialysis patients and multiple
studies conducted over decades have shown that low scores predict
hospitalization, death, and missed treatments—and clinical interventions
like home dialysis can improve scores and
outcomes.
